The Basic Program Structure[5] 1. large group assembly We gather to worship and pray, to build one another up, and to communicate the good news of Jesus to those who are seeking relationship with God. This is where the whole church comes together in one accord to celebrate. 2. small group fellowships We gather in homes for prayer and fellowship, participative Bible study, practical training and ministry to others. These are the house churches, where most of the individual shepherding takes place. We reach out to others through relationships with one another.[6] 3. grassroots ministry As the Lord leads, our members initiate ministries, such as coffeehouse ministry, clothing and furniture and other practical support, counseling services, etc. The mark of maturity is service, not authoritative leadership.[7] Click here to see about our authority or leadership structure. [5] Our model is based on Acts 2:42-47, which says that every day the early church in Jerusalem met in the temple courts (large group assemblies) and in their homes (small group fellowships). This is the balance we want to achieve in our generation. [6] Small groups are designed for fellowship and outreach primarily, and worship, prayer and participative Bible study as well. They meet 2-4 times each month, and all Christians are encouraged to make these relationships the center of their support system and ministry focus. [7] No one starts in a prominent ministry here. We all start with small jobs and demonstrate that the real mark of maturity is servanthood. Those who show themselves to be faithful in small things will be given authority over greater things. |
