A
Brief History
Christ’s
Community in Price Hill was sent out in the summer of 2002 from
Community Christian Church of Northern Kentucky. CCC had small groups,
one of which was located in Cincinnati, mostly centered near Price Hill.
That small group had some very healthy relationships and grew to about
25 members by early 2001. We knew we were too big a group to maintain
close relationships, and it would be better if we multiplied into
smaller groups, but we had a hard time saying goodbye to each other.
Eventually, the idea arose to “be a house church” that met on
Sundays, and then break into smaller groups during the week. That way,
we could have small group relational intimacy and still see each other
every week.
What's
more, we found that it was hard to invite people
to drive across the river to go to church in Florence. So, after some
months of prayer, the elders of CCC in Florence decided to send out the
Cincinnati small group to reach the community of Price Hill.
By
September of 2002, the Price Hill United Church of Christ had reached
the point of dissolving after 117 years of continuous ministry on
McPherson. In the providence of God, we were starting as a church at the
same time that they were closing, and to make a long story short, they
blessed us and gave us their building in January of 2003. Our assemblies
take place there at 10:30 on Sunday mornings. Those are the large group
assemblies. But really, we are simply a network of house churches, each
of which
functions as a ministry center to its local neighborhood. So we meet
whenever the small group meets—from house to house, eating meals
together, sharing life together, sharing in our relationships and the
common bond of our spiritual pilgrimage.
What
are we doing? We are striving to be authentic in our relationships as we
journey together through life. We seek honest friends and value support.
We offer words of comfort, helping hands and genuine friendship to one
another. We believe that our society is starved for good relationships
and for real family. So we strive to have real faith, be real family and
real friends. We invite you to join us as we go on this great adventure
together.
